Back to our regularly scheduled program...

So sorry about that ridiculous post from the evil hacker. No, we will not be offering any low interest loans, heck, we won't be offering loans of any kind. Hope I got that deleted before anyone was duped. And, just as a side note, if you want a loan, go to a bank, not a blog...just an fyi.

Anywhoo...This week we have been busy, busy, busy. We have been working diligently on our Medieval projects for our Medieval Faire next week, and as a bonus that just happens to be our 100th day of school! What an exciting way to celebrate our achievments this year! We have also delved back into our Grammar study with MCT Sentence and Practice Island. I must say, it is like stepping through the doorway of an old friend's house. Surely, I can't be the only one who finds comfort in grammar/writing? Anyway, I'm glad we're back on track with it. I'm looking forward to moving to the Town level next year with Noah. I think is one of the best curriculum choices I've ever made, that and Math Mammoth.

With Caitlyn and Aiden, we are enjoying a Nursery Rhymes unit based on the Arnold Noble Mother Goose book. Caitlyn absolutely ADORES this book. We have to read "Humpty Dumpty" every night before bed. So, I've decided to run with her interests. I am pulling some crafty type things from my Evan Moore Teacher File Box. This week Caitlyn and Aiden are looking more closely at "Diddle Diddle Dumpling, My Son John", and Caitlyn is in the process of making a graph of our family's night time sock wearing habits. So far most have answered that they do not wear their stockings on, like "John" in the rhyme does. I'm not surprised by that, as I think you MUST be crazy to wear your socks while you sleep, no offense, Aiden.

Speaking of Aiden, today he's been working on taking off and putting on Kai Lan's shirt. At some point this might disturb me, say in about 15 years, but for today, I am glad he's working on his fine motor skills!

We also read the first section of the Berenstain Bears Big Book of Science and Nature. We talked about colder weather (that seemed to show up the day after reading about it, hummm) and how some animal hibernate. So we checked out some Bear books from the library and made a cave for our own bears and animals to hibernate in. Pictures to follow. As a side note, Aiden LOVES the bear books by Karma Wilson. The first one that we read was Bear Snores On. Aiden was riveted. I don't know if it was the rhyming lines or the sweet pictures, but boy was he hooked. This week we've read about five of them. I plan on keeping them through next week, so we can get an additional reading out of all of them.

Today we were supposed to go on a field trip to the Nuecess Delta Preserve, but alas, it was rainy and cold. My kids really don't know how to respond to colder weather. They don't like the foreign clothes, they can't wear their slip-on clogs, and in general it puts a damper on their spirits. The good news for them is that we are moving to another warmer climate, so they only have to deal with weather inconviences a few days a year!

I'm going to talk about our new school format in anther post. I've made some changes to our school day, and they all have been positive, so I want to tell you a little about them as well as post pictures. I hope this post finds all my followers doing well. Blessings to you and for your weekend.

  1. Daniel's story is one of my favorite ones as well. Never too young to know how faithful and protective our Heavenly Father is to all of us.

Do they have anything like Scarborough Faire close to Corpus? I think it starts in April here in North Texas. It was fun when I took my g/t kids from BP there.
